Pasture Drill – Tyne, Coulter/Tyne, Disc

The Pasture Drill is designed for direct drilling into existing pasture or establishing new pastures.pasture-drill-tyne-drill-02

Direct drilling is a quick way of upgrading both quality and density.

The John Shearer Pasture Drill is available in four (4) sizes: 10 row- 1.8m, 13 row- 2.3m, 16 row- 2.9m & 19 row- 3.4m.

There are four models to suit all work types:

The Tyne Drill is generally suited to situations where pastures are being sown into fully cultivated seed beds, or where any existing pasture has been completely removed by prior spray applications. The three ranks of tynes provide excellent ability for trash to pass between the tynes during sowing.

The Coulter Tyne Drill is recommended for use in the improvement of existing pastures where some or all of that existing pasture is intended to be retained. The coulters cut a path ahead of each sowing tyne which minimizes disturbance of existing pasture.

The Disc Drill uses an adjustable breast cut to vary the width of the slot. By cutting a slot just wide enough to sow seed and fertiliser, soil firmness can be maintained, minimizing lost grazing time.

Features:

  • Clamp-on, fully adjustable spring release tynes & coulter assemblies
  • Simple sowing rate adjustment, via ‘wide range’ gearbox
  • Easy to calibrate rates, simply attach handle provided to the gearbox and operate the metering system

CSN 8000 Pasture Drill

This purpose built drill is designed to obtain the optimum results from the combination of coulter, baker boot and coil tyne. The frame provides the strength and the weight required for efficient operation of the coulters in providing a slot in which the Baker Boots can pass with minimal disturbance into existing pasture species.8000 Pasture Drill

The three (3) ranks of tynes which provide a tyne spacing on each rank of 450mm gives operators an increased ability to sow into residues from previous pasture or crops. Spring adjustable coulter assemblies, featuring 340mm (13.38″) coulters, are fitted as a single row across the front of the drill. Sowing spacing is 150mm (6″).

The 8000 Series Drill is equipped with an infinitely variable speed, oil bath gearbox, which allows the operator to select any required rate between 1 kg/ha and 240 kg/ha.
The rate adjustment is a simple screw adjustable set-up. Rubber gates allows the drill to also handle very small to large size seeds.

The metering mechanism uses a three row fluted roller for the seed and a peg tooth roller for the fertilizer. The combined seed and fertilizer box has been located to maintain a low profile for the drill, with weight being carried close to the tractor to minimise its effect on tractor stability when sowing in undulating country.
